These Are The Toughest, Craziest Motorsport Races Held Across The World
Flightcase Warehouse works closely with numerous leading names in the motorsport industry, so we understand how important it is that high value, race-essential and precision-engineered equipment is protected at all costs. This isn’t always an easy job – with motorsport mechanics, technicians and drivers facing some of the toughest professional working conditions you’ll come across. Every event is a challenge, but the following 5 races really give you a feel for the strain motorsport pros are put under year in, year out.
1) 24 Hours Nurburgring
Anybody with even a general interest in motorsport will be able to tell you something about this infamous German track. Used extensively by manufacturers to test their cars, the massive racecourse opens up for an intensive 24 hour bout that will see up to 200 cars and 700 drivers put to the test in a relay-style setup. Attention to detail and stamina really matters in this race, with pit crews and drivers competing to not only to win, but sometimes just to last out the entire race. 2) The Dakar Rally
Taking place in South America (having originated as a race from Paris, France to Dakar in Senegal up until 2008), this comprises of roughly 80% amateur participants. This makes not only a fearless and energy-fuelled event to watch, but also to take part in too (if you’re brave enough)! The course involves sand dunes, thick mud, camel grass and rocks. This demands that competing vehicles are true rally off-roaders, rather than just a modified road car that would potentially stay standing on easier courses. Stage lengths can be as brutal as well, with some covering nearly 500 miles per day! Get more information about the Dakar Rally here www.dakar.com/en
3) 24 Hours of Le Mans
We are a big fan of Le Mans. Similar in scope to the 24 hours Nurburgring (yet on a smaller track) this gruelling race is an ideal opportunity to block out some intense racing action and check out the concept cars, test models and brand new specs that manufacturers treat crowds. Support and mechanic teams need to be on top form here, with complicated and precise repairs having to be carried out in tight timeframes. 4) The Isle Of Man Tourist Trophy
Better known as the Isle Of Man TT, this annual superbike championship is an international staple in the motorsport community. Tragically, between 1907 and 2017 there have been 255 total fatalities during this race, making it one of the most deadly events in motorsport – a topic the media often covers when TT time comes around. However, many a superbike racing fan will tell you that there’s no other place better to see high speed precision racing, with daring and talented riders all competing to keep their names in the records. 5: The Baja 1000
The Baja is undoubtedly one of the world’s most notorious rally courses. It’s staged in Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula and in general (this can can vary!), the course is an 800 mile loop covering sand dunes and rocky terrain that involves vehicles ranging from motorcycles, production vehicles, buggies, trucks and custom vehicles. This is a true motorsport spectacle that makes for brilliant viewing. Add to this that the Baja 1000 is also the only major motorsport event where spectators are known to booby trap and sabotage the course, often making it a necessity to repair vehicles right there, at the side of the track!
